I don’t have a horse in this race, but it’s baffling to see how indignant these media talking heads get when it comes to Tesla and Elon Musk (see THIS!). If only the CEOs of Monsanto and Wells Fargo had gotten this much scrutiny and criticism from the financial press, the world would surely be a better place.
In the case of Tesla, however, I always felt that owning the car was a much better investment than owning the stock. This is a company that is trying to lay the groundwork for the production and delivery of electric vehicles on a massive scale. The logistics alone are mind boggling and Musk has been very candid about the probability of failure. Very few people have the stomach to endure this much volatility, which is why so many opt to bet against the company. But shorting a company like Tesla feels wrong to me.
